so we are finally off for our long awaited vacation to TUNESIA...any hotel room and any bed sounds luxurious at this point considering we have no bed and no sofa and we sleep on the floor on about 10 layers of blankets (which by the way still feels like u r sleeping on a hard wood floor)...and we are surrounded by boxes, boxes and more boxes!...we have no dishes, the cupboards are all empty..........everything is packed!!!...when we get back from Tunesia next week on Friday in the middle of the night...we pretty much won't sleep and we move in all day on Saturday!!!....everything in our new apartment will be getting the finishing touches while we are away...thats how european apartments work-we get the keys but NOTHING is in the apartment!...so it takes week for everything to be installed...but thankfully we have a fabulous friend who does this as his job and he has the keys to our appt and is making everything for us....
time to go finish packing for our trip...we have been driving everywhere today, unloading boxes and a million things...I feel almost as tired as I did from wedding planning....so this trip is desperately needed!!!...I can already hear the beach calling my name!!! Tunesia here we commmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!...so I don't think I will be online until maybe I am in the states...I will be in MD from July 24th-August 12th......I hope to see many of you!!!

I'm going to be an Aunt!!!
My brother just called me and told me that they are GOING TO HAVE A BABBBBBYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!.....yahoo!!!! I'm going to be "Tante Lisa!"...its about time!...they got married 7 years ago, but I think thats enough time to enjoy eachother and live life!...the baby will be due in March! so its just the beginning, but I am so happy for them!!!...now the rest of the McDermott kids will be in line...who will be next?...he said we have to go in wedding order...I was the 2nd to get married so I guess the pressure is on us now!

The craziest wedding day of the year 07.07.07...its funny how it was all over the news and all I heard yesterday was wedding parades!!!...yes its a cool date and funny numbers...but do people really believe it will bring them so much luck??? Its funny to think about...they can do whatever they want for good luck, but if they don't have God-its all meaningless!
anyway, my friend who teaches 1st grade at my school got married too yesterday to her austrian boyfriend:) She is cuban/american and he is Austrian...so those are two funny cultures to put together!...its interesting to see the differences between austrian and american weddings...in the ceremony-some of the kids from school came to! My friend mimi and I had to be the childrens choir directors!...haha...and they sang a song that we learned at school...it was very cute!...but I will tell you that one day was enough again with them!...I am glad to be on summer vacation!...then we honked our horns in a parade of cars leading to the reception! funfunfun! the reception had a live cuban band! they were great and we had fun dancing!...good food...and the best part is that Austrian receptions end when the people leave!...The traditions here are to play games with the bride and groom...ones that embarrass them and give them hard work to do for eachother...quite funny!...well good thing we were staying in the hotel above the reception because we would have had to drive all the way back to Vienna at 3am!...I mean I just couldnt believe what time it was!...3am! Places are still open till 3am in the country side???...its all those cubans fault!...anyways it made me think of our own wedding how the rental places have a time you have to leave by which is really sad...just like when you reserve a table for dinner in the states, they kick u out as soon as you are finished eating. here you can stay at your table as long as you want-until u ask to pay! different worlds...the best would be to take the best things about each culture and put them together!
anyway, this morning we woke up and met with our other friends who also stayed overnight and we had a nice breakfast on the terrace...it felt like a vacation!...and it was nice to sleep on a real bed not surrounded by boxes!...our apartment is a mess with moving...

Go VIKINGS! :)
WE LOVE OUR VIENNA VIKINGS!!! hahaI know its funny to see American football is Austria!...but there is a whole european league!...this was the Eurobowl like the superbowl!...there are only 3 americans allowed on everyteam!...we have a hawaiian and they call him the flyin hawaiian and everytime he scores a touchdown they played hula music and everyone danced! it was a beautiful day...but whoooaaaaa TOOO HOT!!!
